In my previous post, I recounted the story of May Hasan Lamotte:
An Iraqi woman went to see Cindy Sheehan at Camp Casey:Sheehan took the afternoon away from the campground to attend a luncheon with more than 100 people at the Peace House in Crawford, a base of operations for her supporters. She addressed the crowd to grateful applause and took pictures with anyone who asked.One of the attendees, an Iraqi woman who moved recently to the United States, drove with her husband from Washington, D.C., to thank Sheehan for her sacrifice. But the woman, May Hasan Lamotte, 37, did not agree with Sheehan's call to pull the troops out of Iraq.
"I came after reading about Miss Cindy. They think their children are dead for nothing, and I am one who got freedom," Lamotte said. "I am grateful for her son and American soldiers. Everybody thinks (Casey) died for nothing. He gave his life as many other brave soldiers have to give me and my country freedom," she said.
Now based on the report I read, there may not have been an actual meeting. I googled "May Hasan Lamotte" but found nothing.
Then I came across this at MichaelMoore.com (August 15), a posting by Cindy Sheehan herself;
After Maxine [Waters, Democratic Congresswoman and Sheehan supporter] left, we came down to the Peace House and we had a luncheon for several Iraqi people who wanted to express their thanks to us for working for peace. It was quite incredible and hundreds of people crowded into the backyard of the Crawford Peace House. I am so humbled by all of the support.
Now Lamotte is not mentioned by name, so she might not have been there, but then how many Iraqi people are at Camp Casey?
Lamotte says she was there to tell Cindy Sheehan that Casey's sacrifice was not in vain, and that he died to give people like her their freedom.
Sheehan says the Iraqis came to see her to thank Sheehan for working for peace and that she was humbled by the support. In case you are wondering, here is Cindy Sheehan's opinion about the peace Iraqis like May Lamotte are thankful for:
And I'm gonna say, "And you tell me, what the noble cause is that my son died for." And if he even starts to say freedom and democracy' I'm gonna say, bullshit.You tell me the truth. You tell me that my son died for oil. You tell me that my son died to make your friends rich. You tell me my son died to spread the cancer of Pax Americana, imperialism in the Middle East. You tell me that, you don't tell me my son died for freedom and democracy.'
Cuz, we're not freer. You're taking away our freedoms. The Iraqi people aren't freer, they're much worse off than before you meddled in their country.
Cindy Sheehan either never actually met these Iraqis, or has selective memory loss, or is outright lying, or is suffering from a serious mental disturbance.
In any case, Michael Moore's website is the right place to spin these fabrications.
