Volksfront International was planning to raise money at an event in British Columbia on February 21. Like many fundraisers, games would entice attendees to put money down, including in this case, a raffle and poker.
The problem is that in British Columbia, as in most provinces and states, you have to get a licence to hold a gaming event. Typically this is a formality, but a white supremacist group runs counter to many of the conditions that define who is eligible for such a licence.
I wrote extensively on this, and pointed out that there are hints to suggest that Volksfront International had not even bothered getting a gaming licence (or at best, had applied but was turned down).
Well, I noticed traffic coming from the forums maintained by Volksfront International. I guess I'd been noticed.
Then I saw this posting on another white supremacist website on a forum thread that was promoting the event:
Events cancelled are Poker and fundraiser. All other amenities still stand.
More details to be released.
RACE OVER ALL!

ROA!
The postings on this thread before this one were all of the "Can't wait" and "This is going to be great" and "Me and the boys are coming" sort.
Then, without warning, just a couple of hours ago, one of the organizers (known only as "O'Neil") announces that there will be a gathering, but there will be no fundraising, including no gaming.
So much for helping out the Aryan "POWs" with cash. They'll have to settle of pictures of skinheads waving for the camera.
Of course, this could be a public relations move. If I've managed to draw attention to their upcoming party and raise legitimate questions about the legality of the fundraising elements, these people might be publicly announcing the cancellation of the fundraiser in an attempt to get out of the spotlight.
Or maybe someone in the organization read my post, realized that a mistake had been made, decided that the law is the law, and without the licence, the fundraiser would have to be suspended.
Or it might be coincidence...but somehow, I don't think so. But then I don't know why my simple blog post would have shut down the fundraiser if these people really believe they are soldiers in a race war.
I mean, leaving "POWs" to rot over a simple gaming licence?
Really, I would have thought tattooed skin-heads stomping around yelling "ROA! ROA!" would be made of sterner stuff.
Perhaps that blog post got the attention of someone these people are really afraid of. I'll try to piece together what has happened over the last 24 hours.
